Long Distance Learning

  • In our long distance learning lab you attend classes at specific times, just as you would if you were on campus, but your professor shows up on a 60" TV and your classmates are in different parts of southeast Idaho.
  • You will meet the other students in your class, located in Idaho Falls, Blackfoot, Twin Falls, Soda Springs, Pocatello, and you will be able to communicate with them as you would your professor.

Benefits:

  • High School students and seniors -- Can't beat the price. High School students can take first year of college courses while still at home, saving thousands of dollars on the cost of college education.
  • Community -- start the college experience you've postponed, take a few classes this semester. You now also have the opportunity to finish the first two years of classes while in town at home -- potentially saving thousands of dollars on the cost of college. Save driving time, etc.

EXCITING NEWS

At this time SVBIC and the Lemhi County Economic Development Association is in the process of developing the Lemhi Learning Center. We have been in discussion with North Idaho College in Couer d'Alene to supply us with access to their online learning program and appropriate access to their Interactive Video Classroom program.

We are looking for a Education Outreach Coordinator that will be responsible for running this program. Our timeline includes finding an Outreach Coordinator by June 2011, enrolling up to 6 students in the Summer Schedule at NIC and have 12 - 16 students enrolled in the Fall Schedule.

Our hopes would be that by the end of the 2011/12 school year, that NIC would see the success of our program at the Lemhi Learning Center and add our center on to the three (3) exisiting Outreach Centers that NIC currently supports.

If you are interested in supporting this program with a Tax Deductible contribution, please contact me at the Salmon Valley Business & Innovation Center.
